津澤峻さんとの共同作品
〈contingency AではなくBでもありえた〉と同時に制作された作品。
トタン板の凹みの部分に一本一本に、表面張力ぎりぎりまで色水を流し込んだ。
先の作品同様、余震がまだ頻繁におこっていた時期であり、余震がきたならば隣接する色水は混ざり合い、色が濁ることが予想される。
表面張力ぎりぎりの状態が維持されてしまうことへの、なんとも言えないもどかしさ。
完成したトランプタワーを崩してしまいたくなるように、張りつめた色水を揺らし濁らせる余震の発生を期待してしまう。だがもしも余震がきたならば、揺れるのは色水だけではなく、それを見る人の地面も揺れているはずだ。
無関係だと思ってしまうこと、関係があると思ってしまうこと
関係をきったり、つないだりは意外と無責任に行われている。
Contingency B, 2011

I made this installation immediately after the Touhoku earthquake in March 11, 2011. During this time, there were frequent aftershocks, which caused much distress among the Japanese population.
Colored water was poured into a dented portion of a corrugated plate until it reached its maximum surface tension. If an aftershock occurs, the surface tension of the colored water is compromised and will mix with adjacent colors.
When viewing the piece, we begin to develop a feeling of impatience because we expect something to occur within the surface tension of the water. I am interested in our preoccupation with idleness and action. Because viewer wants something to happen, it makes me wonder if we want another aftershock to occur. If an aftershock does happen, it will not only break the surface tension of the water, but it will also break the environment around us.
